Here's a satellite picture of the mining town of Artemis, the only town on ?rymheimr, a terraformed moon of the gas giant Jötunheimr. Jötunheimr is the closest planet to the Krossroad Station.

And here's one of the mining sites, visible on the previous picture:

Holy shit, Tup. You've been busy. I see you're on-board with naming the different planets after the different Norse worlds as well. Kick. Ass.
Clever use of OSB, btw.
The autumn days swung soft around me, like cotton on my
skin. But as the embers of the summer lost their breath
and disappeared, my heart went cold, and only hollow
rhythms resounded from within.

Yep, quite busy! After two weeks of partying, I decided to take the whole weekend off and I have been working on Krossroads a lot. Decided to take a little break from the writing by trying to come up with imagery of the "Norse Nine" system. officially known as Xi Puppis. (I have two other Norse-inspired names for the system. I'm not sure yet. I'll have to talk to you about it, Jer)
Yes, the background of the "sat" pic is indeed OSB. It's quite obvious but I like the texture of it, suggesting recent human modifications of an arid and unwelcoming environment.
Here's a few more pictures taken from Asgard City, on the eponymous planet, where most corporations active in the system have their Corporate Headquarters:

Asgard City. The FDM Towers are visible in the middle. Brother Pearle's church is on the right side (of course!).
Mayenko Pioneers Park. Built and sponsored by Mayenko Mining Ressources.

Same church from a different angle, at night. Note the Andorian statue on the left (I'm quite proud of it)
So yes, Asgard, like most recently terraformed planets, doesn't have clouds and relies exclusively on irrigation, as there isn't enough water to sustain a proper condensation system. Not all planets in the Norse Nine system are terraformed, some already sustained life, while others can't be adapted to most sentient species needs. Those species have to adapt to those harsher environments.
I also decided to go with a relatively uniform architecture and design, suggesting that most buildings were built at the same time. Also, it's suggestive of the corporate sector taste for design uniformity, like the real-life exemples of McDonald's or Wal-Mart.
Hopefully, nobody will find which city I used as a template too soon!

Asgard? Damn little grey bastards...
Up there we were heroes, fighting robot bitches...
Priest: Great wall of prophecy, reveal to us God?s will that we may blindly obey.
Crowd: Free us from thought and responsibility.
Priest: Your words guide us.
Crowd: We are dumb.

Haha, none of those little assholes on this show!
The planets in the system where Krossroads is set are named after the nine worlds of Norse Cosmology. It would only make sense that the Corporate HQs and the elite would live on Asgard, the land of the gods.

Seriously, Tup, the way you've extrapolated upon the Norse worlds notion is flat out brilliant.
I cant wait to see more.

Thanks guys, can't wait to deliver the first story, hopefully it'll be as good as I see it!
And I'm just trying to follow on Jer's footsteps, playing in his sandbox is awesome!

I love Norse Mythology, any chance you will touch upon the Ragnarok storyline? Maybe as just an Episode title perhaps in reference to the war itself. |

What's the story about, dd? Forgive me, I actually know very little about Norse mythology (I just the liked the idea of using the names since I dont think it's really been done in sci-fi before, at least not the way Greek/Roman has).

Tup, how'd you do the statues? Were they already there and you just added antennas to one of them with photoshop? Or did you put all of them there?
Whatever you did, it looks completely natural.

This link can explain it better than I can.

Hey BB, no plan on using a Ragnarok allusion, but if so, it will be highly metaphorical.
You never know though!
But there's a spaceport called Valgrind in the system!

Ro, I didn't do a lot on those pics, basically removing clouds, flags, poles and other 20th century items (like cars) and adding a few things like little dots in the sky (representing aircrafts). The statues were already there, I just added Andorians antennas to one.
