1) The map room on Kobol had Earth constellations of the Zodiac.
2) Roslin said that those 'patterns' were on the Original Flags of the Colonies.
3) Thrace said that when the 13th tribe got to Earth, they looked up and saw their 12 brothers.
4) Vernacular of the series is very modern with few alterations.
Question One: How did the 12 Colonial Flags have Earth Constellations on them?
Question Two: How did the sacred scrolls have what the 13th tribe saw in them if they were written after they left?
Question Three: Do I like lists? Yes.
So, here's my theory.
The humans that colonized the 12 colonies had forgotten their origin by the time they left Kobol. The origin of Humanity is Earth, and not Kobol.
I believe that in 'our' future, we created AI. This AI was given to robotic servitors who eventually progressed mentally enough to understand the concept of slavery... rebelled against their masters... and caused the first Exodus.
I believe that those AI's were the first Cylons, who evolved and developed cloning from their masters work after all the humans were either dead or gone. This would be the "Final Five".
I believe that the humans who escaped Earth found Kobol by accident and settled there. A few eons later, humanized AI's traced them to Kobol... where they observed humanity doing the same thing all over again, resulting in the Second Exodus. This time, three or four AI's developed into humanized form.
Instead of following the 13th Tribe to Earth... because it was forbidden, (Hence why Athena hurled herself off a cliff in her grief over the 13th tribe leaving for Earth) the remaining 12 tribes migrated and founded the 12 Colonies.
Previous AI's from Earth... seeded infant clones into the Colonies as 'orphans' to be raised by humans on the Colonies. (Tigh being the first)
After the First Cylon-Colonial War, the other three were seeded. At which point, the humanized Cylons diverged in their opinion of how to treat humanity. The Kobol and Colonial Cylons still wanted revenge while the Earth Cylons finally understood the folly of their wrath. They erased the seven's memories of what they looked like and hit it back to Earth.
Second Cylon-Colonial War - Causing the RTF to flee for Earth.
Timeline in our calender by the time the RTF finally reaches Earth: Approximately the year 8000.... give or take a few centuries.
Kara Thrace's Viper is crushed, and after - she was taken on board the Cylon heavy raider which jumped to Earth. I don't think she's a Cylon... I think she's the actual first Colonial Hybrid. In looking over the episode where she 'died' and the previous episodes with Kat... I have a feeling that her mother was an aged Kat model Cylon... which is why she and Kat did not get along at all.
RTF meets the Final Five on the way to Earth, while the six (minus one who was boxed) are coming up from their rear... Chaos ensues... Tigh and the others tell Adama and etcetera that the Cylons in front of them are on 'our' side and to hang back.
Enter the biggest battle on screen as Cylons fight with Cylons... at which point Adama launches against the pursuing, while defending the protectors.
Did any of that make sense? I haven't had my morning caffeine fix yet.

RE: My theory on the Cycle of humanity, and Season 4
I personally think that some of the stuff in Razor will have something to do with Tigh's origin story.
I'm not convinced that we'll ever find out how the whole thing comes together properly though. Part of the appeal of the show is the mystery, and I think they're best leaving people guessing for the most part. They'd never be able to communicate the complexity of a full explanation without it coming off as absolutely mundane.

RE: My theory on the Cycle of humanity, and Season 4
Razor didn't have much to say about Tigh or the other revealed.
Razor had everything to do with the Pegasus from the attack on the Shipyards till it was destroyed.
The only thing that Razor did for Cylons was reveal the 'first' attempt at the merger of machine and biological. At one point, that hybrid had a stereo of two voices... and I could swear that the second voice was Gaius'.

RE: My theory on the Cycle of humanity, and Season 4
I think it's worth noting that immediately before the First Hybrid was destroyed, it was wondering about it's next incarnation...and then Hera, a true hybrid, was born in the very next chronological episode 'Downloaded'. If we look upon the First Hybrid as the 'Metatron' (the voice of god) that was then reborn in Hera...well, her importance suddenly becomes very clear.
The autumn days swung soft around me, like cotton on my
skin. But as the embers of the summer lost their breath
and disappeared, my heart went cold, and only hollow
rhythms resounded from within.
Razor didn't have much to say about Tigh, but considering that the events depicted in Razor have some bearing on Season 4, and the fact that the Pegasus story was tied up a long time ago, I think either the "Kara Thrace is dangerous" stuff or the Cylon evolution stuff is likely to turn up.
When I was watching Razor, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something awfully familiar about the way the captured humans looked. It may have been unintentional, but I had to take a double take at the dude Adama was freeing in the flashback to make sure it wasn't Leoben.

Jeremy 12/27/2007 00:06:36 Happy day after Christmas, everyone. I haven't gotten a damn thing done on the 'That Mine Own Tears Do Scald' front.
Captain Jack 12/26/2007 21:32:40 Well, they're both screaming loonies, but SLP's IP originates from Canada, I can tell you that...
Sam Cogley 12/26/2007 21:06:38 Though, now that I think about it, I wouldn't be too surprised to discover that SLP is Amy's vicious personality...
