Just for arguments sake and all kidding aside as I'm sure you have all seen my comments on the Serpo story. Whats everyones thoughts or belife that we may or may not be alone in the universe.

In other words do you belive that there is life on other worlds or that we are alone in this vast infinite thing or friend Gene Roddenberry called "The Final Frontier"?

Now please don't take this and assume that I am some UFO chasing Neophite that thinks the rise and fall of modern day Mythologies and Religon are all based on the fact that we were or possibly still are beinging "VISTITED". As I have stated before I was raised in a Christian home and I do belive that there is a God and with that being said I think it would be niave on my part to assume that just beacuse I belive in a God or the possiblity that there is a God that in Gods Infinte Wisdom he/she chose Earth and Earth alone to create life in the vastness of know space. There is far to much that we don't know or can even begin to fathom as a species who has yet begun to explore Space or other worlds for that matter and once again I think at least for this subject that Star Trek lends it's ideologies to keeping an open mind for the sake of future generations to evolve past the petty differences of today's society and overall make-up.

I've never seen any credible evidence, but I think it's very likely that there is some sort of life out there. So, consider me an agnostic on the issue. smiley

COME ON!!!! No one else has anything to say on this one? I assumed that a bunch of Trek junkies like myself would jump at the chance to have a discussion like this.

On this one, I gotta quote Carl...

"If just 1 percent of the Stars in the Universe had planets around them,
and just 1 percent of those planets had the capability of supporting life,
and just 1 percent of the planets capable had life,
and just 1 percent of that life was intelligent,
It still leaves Billions upon Billions of chances out there"

I didn't look it up so its not perfect, but thats the jist of it. There is too much out there for their not to be. I don't know if they have been here. I don't know what the point would be other than to possibly study our culture for possible clues into their own past.

If I were part of a race of advanced beings the last place I would go is a backwards planet where the inhabitants are awfully busy killing themselves. If there is a bright center of the universe this planet is the one farthest from it right now.

Exactly. I lean towards 'yes' precisely because of that theorem of Sagan's. I don't believe, however, that extraterrestrials have visited this planet. The reason is that every time I'm presented with the supposed 'proof' of this, it always falls apart under scrutiny (kinda like the alleged 'evidence' produced by those who claim the Apollo missions never occurred).

Buzz Aldrin and a Panel of Skeptics and belivers were on CNN's larry King Live tonite talking about UFO's and the theroy of ET's with really good arguments for and against, the main topic was the "Pheonix Lights" seen above Ohare Airport in 1997 and Aldrins backtracking of what he had originally claimed to be a UFO that he and his crew witnessed on his trip to the Moon.

Yeah, that's always been a point of interest for me as well.

Last night he had a Model of the Apollo Rocket with him and is now claiming that what he saw was one of the panels from the last part of the fuselage that breaks away after the stage 3 portion that suposedly cought fire and followed the capsule instead of being 6000 miles behinde them falling back to Earth. Sure Buzz we'll by that some 50 years later at a way to be a stand up guy.

Like the Bush administration and it's current approval rating would really risk going up against an American Legend in his 80's regarding UFO's.
